Home What comes home with your puppy.

The go-home foundation

What comes home with your puppy.

At eight weeks, Texas Doodles puppies go home with practical care, early training, and real transition support. Here is the whole list, nothing hidden.

The whole list

Everything included at eight weeks.

Health and veterinary

  • Veterinarian checked before go-home day
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • Dewormer
  • Nano microchip registered through AKC Reunite
  • One-year health guarantee

Preventatives and food

  • Flea, tick, and heartworm preventative for the first month
  • Intestinal parasite preventative for the first three months
  • Purina Pro Plan Lamb and Rice small bites puppy food

The transition home

  • Potty training to a doggy door started at four weeks
  • A blanket carrying the litter scent
  • Baxter & Bella puppy training discount
  • First month of Trupanion puppy insurance free

A note on the health guarantee. Coverage terms, what it includes, and what it asks of you are written out in the puppy contract. Read it before you commit, and ask Stacy anything that is not clear.

Before they come home

What to have ready.

You do not need a nursery. You do need a few things on day one so the first week is calmer for everybody.

A crate

Sized for a puppy, not for the adult they will become. Small and cozy beats big and lonely.

The same food

Stay on Purina Pro Plan Lamb and Rice small bites for the first couple of weeks. Switching too fast upsets stomachs.

A small safe area

Gate off one room. A whole house is too much freedom for an eight-week-old.

A vet appointment

Book a wellness check for the first few days home. Bring the paperwork we send with you.

Go-home day

Selection happens either in person at our Kountze home or over FaceTime, whichever works for your family. Pickup is in person at our residence unless arrangements are made in advance.

Plan for a little time when you arrive. We would rather answer your questions in person than have you drive home wondering.

We do not disappear after pickup

Families text us pictures years later, and we love it. If something comes up in the first weeks, ask. There is no expiration date on a question about a dog we raised.
